Avant-Garde are a post-punk/dark-wave trio from Rome created in 1994 by Alessio Schiavi with the attitude to re-elaborate the classic dark-wave sound trying to make it actual without losing its original feeling.
The first band official release was a self-titled 12” EP (1999) followed by two full length albums, “CYANURE” (2004) and the acclaimed “IRON IN FLESH” (2008) that got a nomination for “best album of the year 2008” on www.deathrock.com and mentioned as one of the best albums of the decade 2000-2009 on www.erbadellastrega.it.
They played several gigs in Italy and Europe as well, even sharing the stage with bands like Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, And Also The Trees, Cinema Strange, White Rose Movement, For Against, Ausgang… and playing at the following events:
• ASCENSION OF THE GODS in Bassiano, Italy (July 1997)
• OBSCURE FEST II in Naples, Italy (May 2006)
• DIE WUNDERKUR GOTHIC FESTIVAL in Bologna, Italy (September 2007)
• LEFANTASTIQUE.NIGHT XXII in Brussels, Belgium (February 2008)
• AVANT-GARDISM FROM BEYOND in Saint Petersburg, Russia (November 2010)
They also had their London debut gig in June 2009 and a German tour in February 2011.
October 2012. The brand new single “EPOQUE” is released. Four tracks taken from their forthcoming album “ANTITESI” with new sounds due to the introduction of synths and keyboards for a different musical approach.
For the purpose of these recordings Avant-Garde also involved drummer Gianmarco Bellumori and the dream-pop/coldwave artist Mushy.
